Emily Johnston Larkin, Owner and Principal Designer, has been designing some of the most beautiful homes in Texas for over the past decade.
Emily received a Bachelor's degree in interior design from the University of Oklahoma's School of Architecture and soon after graduating, started her own interior design firm in Dallas at the young age of twenty four. She has over ten years of interior design experience with her background in both commercial and residential projects, and movie theater design.
Emily was recently named a D Home Magazine Best Designer for the fifth time. Her projects have garnered attention in the design world nationally and internationally from Better Homes and Gardens, House Beautiful, Luxe Magazine, Homes & Gardens, and The Dallas Morning News to name a few. Her work was recently featured in the book, Southern Spaces for Beautiful Living and on the cover of Southern Home magazine. She has worked on special projects with notable brands such as One Kings Lane, Wisk laundry detergent and Whirlpool, and is involved in community projects with Dwell with Dignity, Kappa Kappa Gamma and the Hollywood Heights Home Tour. Emily was also one of the winners of D Home's recent "Life in Color Contest".
In addition to her day job, Emily is also known as the Founder and Executive Editor of the Material Girls Blog. Launched in 2007, Material Girls grew at a rapid pace and quickly expanded to include five interior designers across the nation who blogged about tips on the latest trends for the home. It wasn't long before the rest of the design world got the MG bug, and it was named by House Beautiful magazine as a "Site We Love". Today, MG has tens of thousands of followers and is highly regarded as a source for design inspiration.
Emily's organization is unmatched, and her attention to detail shines through in every project. A frequent traveler, she draws inspiration from all over the world to creatively blend a mix of styles and periods in her projects.
In her free time, Emily enjoys combing through antique shops and spending time with her husband, Ben and her sweet pup, Zoey.
